W.I.P.

I’m working on a new design for the Christmas stockings. I like it a lot. It does take some patience, what with all the cutting out of petal shapes. Music helps pass the time, but a shape cutter would be divine. Until then, I’ll be snipping away.

I got a new lens! As a mysterious surprise birthday present from my parents. It arrived yesterday and I had to go ahead and open it even though it wasn’t my birthday. I’ve been playing around with it taking pictures and seeing just what it can do. It’ll probably work better when sun comes back to Portland. I hardly like any of the pictures I take using artificial light. Do candles count as artificial light? I’ll try a shot and see how it turns out. For now I’ll be playing with this all day and return with some birthday pictures later on.

I’ll leave you with a kitty picture. I made a large floor pillow out of coffee bags last year to serve as a cat pillow. It hasn’t been until recently that she decided to acknowledge its presence. She rarely leaves it now.

It seems this congestion cold is going around everywhere. Maybe it is the welcoming of winter and our bodies are refusing to move on? That might be the case with me. Nonetheless I am trying to get better by organizing. Sitting down organizing. This was spurred by the avalanche yesterday. The avalanche of my top fabric shelf. Unfortunately the support came out while I was putting some fabric on the shelf and then… swoosh! slide! I yelled, the cat ran, my button bag went flying, fabrics fell heavily on the desk and floor. Nobody was hurt. Only the wall remains wounded and empty. Now I’ve finished organizing two drawers, the buttons, and made piles of my fabric. Better piles. But the shelf remains propped against the wall. I think I might prop myself against a pillow. My birthday is right around the corner and it’s no fun to be a sick birthday girl.
