Project Coat
Yesterday I traversed all over town. I managed to purchase Simplicity New Look 6736. Okay, it was my intent to buy it. Then I went to the large Goodwill and found 2 1/2 yards of wool fabric. Originally I’d intended this pattern for making a lightweight coat, but another winter coat won’t go to waste around here. Plus, I’ve got some large vintage buttons that’ll look really good with this fabric.

Then there’s the issue of the lightweight coat. A while ago I found almost 6 yards of this blue flower fabric at an estate sale ($10!). I’m still not sure if I’m sold on the idea of making a coat out of it. It would make a pretty summer dress. It’s a fairly heavy cotton weave and would work for a coat if not for a dress. But don’t you think a mustard colored coat would be nice as well? I just can’t make up my mind.

I vote a summer dress with a little jacket! It sounds like it will give nice crisp lines and 6 yards should be enough if it’s knee length and the jacket hits mid torso, eh?!

Oh, that wool is positively drool-worthy! And yes, I think a mustard-colored coat would be stunning. Mustard is definitely a trendy color, but I think the coat would remain classic – kind of a twist on the traditional yellow raincoat.
