Kitchen Coverlet

This bed cover has been a long time coming. I found a lot of these linens, mostly runners and napkins, at thrift stores and estate sales. A couple were ones my grandmother had. I laid all of these out last September and then rolled them all up and stashed it. This past weekend I decided to take it down and sew it, finally.

Right now it’s almost done. I’m going to add a king size sheet to the back and then hand sew large circles all over it. So it will be lightly quilted, but without anything sandwiched between layers. I’m not sure what I will do about binding it. It’s very soft and comfortable, and definitely will never lay flat. I had some trouble keeping everything situated while sewing. I think next time I’ll take a picture of how it should be and just go in sections.
I’m motivated to finish it because it’s so light and summery feeling. Just like Portland is right now. Yes! I am so happy that summer has made it here.

It’s beautiful! Reminds me of the beddings sold in Anthropologie. I wish I have the patience to collect that much vintage linens.

Thanks! I love Anthropologie. It did take a while to collect them all, but it was worth it in the end :)
