Better Knock-Off Project

Ok. So after the Jovena dress was cast aside, I needed something else to knock-off for my class. I went to this jacket I purchased at Topshop in London four years ago. It has shrunk *ahem* since then. Yesterday I spent the better part of the day working on pattern pieces I didn’t finish in class. Today I’ve been cutting out fabric and sewing. And taking shortcuts that were really dumb ideas. Like not accurately measuring the pleats in the back. Yeah. That was dumb.

The pleats are my most favorite part, too. Anyway, everything has been matching up. What? Wow! Except the shoulder seams, and I’m not sure what happened there. But all the wonky looking princess seams (seriously, it looks like a racecourse in the back) matched and sewed up perfect. I have yet to attach the collar or sleeves.

I very much dislike sewing sleeves. Even using the crimping method, I suck at attaching sleeves. I think I may just always use princess sleeves since they involve intentional gathering. Hm. Okay. Break time is over. Back to finishing up the jacket.
