Stripetastic

I made a pattern for this on Monday and finished sewing it yesterday, Thursday. It would’ve been finished sooner but there were a couple of pretty hot days in which sewing + ironing was totally out of the question. You can see that I’m putting my new dress form to work. It’s a bit wonky but it works great and now I can take pictures of things not on a mattress! That rocks.

I used elastic thread in the bobbin for the empire waist. Lovin’ the elastic thread right now. This was made using thrift store fabric and is a nightgown. I’d wear it as a dress but the gathers in the front and the back make a very unflattering silhouette. My next task is to take out the gathers to see if that would make it more flattering.

The sleeves are a lot like this vintage dress:

And finally, I figured out how to do a rolled hem on my serger. So I finished the hem with it. Now I just gotta figure out how to do all the other amazing things the serger apparently can do!
