Thrifty Weekend

I went to a couple of estate sales this past weekend and found some cute things. I think I might use this Hawaiian purse on my upcoming trip to San Francisco. Speaking of, anyone have places I must visit while I’m there? I’m definitely going to Britex. It’s #1 on my list.

I already have plans for some of this lace. When I came home from my trip I found a bunch of fabric I forgot that I bought at an estate sale! It was a nice surprise. Or a reminder that I’m losing my mind. I’m going with nice surprise. There’s some navy rayon that looks like raw silk, and I’m planning to make a shirt with it and layer some of this lace on it. I’m pretty excited about it, so I’ll probably finish it soon.

This fan is so neat! It’s that green I love so much, and it actually works. I found it in the attic at an estate sale. That was the most precarious situation. There were people crouched down in the attic digging through boxes because the people who ran the sale didn’t bring it down. Sheesh. I’m glad I braved the wooden ladder to find this treasure, tho :)

Lastly, I found a fifty cent copy of Howl. The book that supposedly started the beat movement. I won’t lie, I was hoping I could sell it at Powell’s because I saw a copy of the book for $1600 in their rare books section (they have books for over $20,000!!!). However, that was a first edition, and this is an 8th edition. Also, do you like how I paired the book with that fluffy creature? She’s a great model.

Great stuff. I have an old fan like that. It’s aqua and weighs an absolute ton! I look forward to seeing the finished shirt.
