Purple Explosion Dress
Here’s the dress I just finished making for my sister. The fabric is cotton/linen and was a panel, the lining is light yellow cotton batiste.

I had to make a dart adjustment and I raised the neckline a little. I think I should have checked this out first with a muslin bodice because there’s a bit of gaping around the neck. I’m not sure if it’s because of my adjustments or because the sides of the V are bias. Any thoughts? I should go recheck the pattern.

I tried to match up the sides of the pattern as best as I could. I think it worked out well.

Unfortunately, the zipper pull broke off after I’d already put the zipper in. No way was I going to take out the zipper (again!! I had a few snafus). So I made a new zipper pull with some jewelry wire and glass beads.

I added a fun touch with the polka dot bias binding on the inside hem. This afternoon I went to the post office and mailed it off. It felt really good to finish something from my to-do list!

What a gorgeous dress! And I love the new zipper pull. In fact, this makes me want to replace all of my zipper pulls with something lovely…
