My Comfort Outfit

Slippers, V-neck, Leggings, Socks, Sweatshirt made & pattern by me
As soon as I come home from work I change into something really comfy (sometimes just pjs). And those days when I’m just hanging out at home, I also wear comfy outfits. What can I say? I like to tool around in stretchy pants instead of jeans. Awhile ago I wrote this post with a couple of outfits for Jen. That lazy afternoon outfit is truly a dream outfit for me!
One of my long term goals is to have an entire wardrobe that I love. Things that are practical, impractical, beautiful and plain — but that are made of materials I like and things that make me feel good, including comfy clothes. It is important to me to look nice. What that means to me may be completely different to someone else, and that’s fine. I’m discovering (slowly! with much circuitous thought!) what I like and don’t like.
I took a stab at making my own leggings this winter. I made two pairs and neglected to put in any sort of waistband (out of laziness) which has led to me safety pinning them or knotting them. American Apparel makes some good leggings that I’ve had for years and are just now getting worn out. While there are many sketchy things about AA at least they are made here in the U.S.A. The outfit I put together in this post is something I wear pretty frequently, changing out the sweatshirt with different sweaters for more warmth. I have those musical note socks and the fair isle ones too, they are just super fun bright socks!
I’m interested to know what other women wear for comfort and if looking nice while just being around the house is something others think about too. It’s definitely something that I wouldn’t have considered in my early 20s. But now that I’m pushing 30, my thoughts on clothing are evolving, causing me to reconsider the way I look at creating / consuming / body image / etc.

Your sweatshirt design and adornment is yummy – so pretty but still looks cozy. I always feel so frumpy in sweatshirts but I don’t want to wear a sweater at home because I’d probably spill coffee on it. And those L. L. Bean slippers are wonderful, aren’t they?!

Living in Florida sweaters and leggings only work part of the time, ok like 1/4 of the time. So when I lounge around the house I wear terry cloth drawstring shorts with a tank or my mans shirt. No socks since half way throught the night I need to throw a Lernout to cool down (for whatever reason when it hits 2 am it gets warm, I have no idea why the air conditioner or maybe it is me but for gods sake I’m 26 not 56!!! Lol). I bought one of the colette patterns from modcloth several mints ago, the chantilly pattern and have yet to make it but I still adore the idea of making home made personalized me comphy clothes. Kudos to you and your oober cute sweater you made. I am getting pumped about mine.
