Red Socks
I’ve made a lot of socks since I took up knitting a few years ago. There’s just something about knitting socks that I love. It’s simple and small, perfect for taking on trips to tea shops for knitting and chatting.
I used the basic sock pattern in Socks from the Toe Up yet I neglected to read the part that said to use size 0 needles. Instead, I used 2, which made these socks a good deal larger than I’d intended. I didn’t actually discover this until halfway through sock 1. I didn’t want to unravel it, so I continued. Originally meant for me, I offered them to Chris and said he would wear them. They are very showy socks and I was dubious but he has worn them a couple times already.
Some time ago I lost the yarn information and can’t give it to you. I do know it’s superwash wool and it had a horrible name like Vampire Blood or somesuch trendy name. They knit up nicely and the pattern is very good even if you use size 2 needles like I did. I’m already to the heel on my first self-striping sock and I’m using the same pattern, but with the correct needle size!
And to end the post, a gratuitous shot of Darsh with dust on his head.
